Meet Dr. King
Hello! I’m Dr. Kenya L. King, a Licensed Psychologist based in Tampa, FL. I earned my Doctorate and Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). At my practice, Aya Psychological and Wellness Services LLC, my top priorities are ethical practice, professionalism, and the well-being and transformation of my clients.

Having worked in a variety of clinical settings and in both rural and urban locations, I am comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and with distinct therapeutic needs. As a result, my clients vary in terms of age, relationship/marital status, academic status, socioeconomic status, military/Veteran status, physical ability, sexual orientation, gender, race, and ethnicity.

I have extensive experience providing individual and group therapy and working with both children and adults. I was fortunate to have trained under experts such as Dr. Thomas Ollendick, world renowned clinical child psychologist, researcher, author, and expert in childhood anxiety and Dr. Russell T. Jones, a leading researcher and clinician in post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood trauma, and minority mental health. I have also worked in community mental health, private practice, residential settings, and within our Veterans Affairs Medical system.
As a result, my clinical expertise is fairly broad and includes treating a variety of mental health and related concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma, grief, stress management, anger management, issues related to self-esteem, behavioral problems in children, coping with medical conditions, and improving physical health. I am specifically trained in the provision of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence based therapy considered effective for the treatment of a variety of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and stress as well as in Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy (for children and adults), both of which are evidence based treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I am also trained in providing comprehensive psychological assessments of psychiatric symptoms, personality, intellectual, academic, and cognitive functioning for children and adults.
